Garhwal
Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trek
The highest Shiva temple, and a summit sunrise the same morning
About this trek
Chopta–Tungnath–Chandrashila is the trek that fits a weekend and still feels like the high Himalaya. Tungnath is the highest of the Panch Kedar temples, and the extra hour to Chandrashila summit gives a 360° view over the Garhwal and Kumaon ranges. We walk it in the rhododendron bloom of spring, in the clear skies of autumn and on snow in winter.
